- The rebels move south and gather soldiers.
- Although they camp near York (which is poorly defended) they decide not to besiege it, moving to Knaresborough instead
- The rebels capture Barnard Castle (the Crown’s main stronghold in County Durham)
- The government react, moving Mary south from Staffordshire to Coventry, and sending a large army to confront the rebels
- The Earls realise they have little support from other nobles.
- They disband most of their army, escaping into Scotland.
- Westmorland then escapes to the Netherlands
